Fruit bowl

Standing patiently
On the table, in a proud form
A bowl filled with harvests
rich of light grown life
Oranges, bananas, apples, grapes
Once a seed, a sprout, a vine
that drew from the earth, a masterpiece
Of juice and color, woven with fiber
Its wish simply to share
its own form and style
Sour, sweet, soft, crunchy
Round, long, spiky, smooth
Which will you choose,
It challenges you curiously
With all its best presented
All at once, just for you
I pick up a banana, then an apple
Then an orange, and then a pear;
I pick it all because I can,
The cornucopia at last empty
And the empty table piece sits,
In content rest, its task fulfilled
Of being a fruit bowl
